Astilbe – In – Heaven

Originally a completed shaded location, this project took a fun twist. Multiple canopy trees and invasive species were removed to open up the front of the home, making it visible from the street. With more sun, we were able to play with plant materials. Color was the name of the game here. Without the use of annuals, flowering shrubs, and perennials were chosen to provide season-round interest. Broad swaths of astilbe were placed throughout the front foundation, providing a spectacle of color early in the summer months. The backyard was ripped of invasives and opened up to give the homeowners a usable backyard and sprawling lawn. Flowering shrubs were placed along the entire woodline to provide an interesting border and privacy screen. Now, the entire property can be enjoyed throughout the year, with each season bringing an exciting display of color.
